For a re-branding project in my design and the coordinated image class in Florence, I chose to bring the NBA Lakers franchise back to its original home in Minnesota. Reason being that the current Los Angeles brand is disjointed from the meaning of the team name, as there are no lakes in the city. This makes the identity weak with little intention behind the design elements. There is a reason why the current team doesn't have a mascot. So in bringing the Lakers franchise back to the Land of Lakes, bringing the 1940's Minneapolis Lakers designs up to speed, the brand can speak much more clearly as to what the team and the team's city is all about.
